I Know The Movie “Juice” Is Considered A Classic, But…

Juice PosterA coming of age story that is portrayed with incredible on-screen chemistry between four friends, Juice is considered to be a hood classic. This movie is often considered one of the best cinematic offerings that came from hip-hop’s golden era.

Tupac Shakur’s breakout role in this movie solidified his movie star potential. It was the proving ground where he showed Hollywood he had the chops, and showed showed the viewing audience he had the talent to effortlessly hold their attention as a leading man.

Juice also had hip-hop guest stars galore. It also displayed significant snippets of hip-hop culture; like, DJ battles, house parties, and popular hip-hop fashion.

The quad of Tupac Shakur, Omar Epps, Jermaine Hopkins, and Khalil Kain simply shined on the big screen via this movie. However, there is something that always rubbed me the wrong way about this movie.

The relationship between Omar Epps’s character and Cindy from EnVogue is more than disturbing. The love affair between a divorcee and a high school student portrayed in this movie is cringe worthy. Surprisingly, the pedophile relationship played out in this movie was never lambasted in the media, or by critics, or by the wider viewing audience. I wonder why. While I get why people were drawn to the artistry of the movie, I can’t help but ponder on what exactly the movie was lulling us into accepting. Think about it.

Love Your Life: Beware Of Dangerous Programming

Get Off My Wings LogoSpeaking from experience, TV and media-images intake is extremely dangerous! You only have to abandon television for a long period of time and then come into contact with it again to feel the negative effects of what watching too much of the wrong shows can do to you.

I don’t own a television, but the internet is the new TV. Don’t get trapped into thinking that the wrong shows are okay. That’s how you can get lured in and find yourself trapped and effected by what your mind is being programmed with. The same goes for blogs and media sites. Funny how I don’t watch TV, award shows, and things of that nature; yet, I can still tell you what’s going on with “celebrities.” Just from reading my timeline updates, I’m abreast of all of the latest “celebrity gossip.” I know that directing any attention to these sort of things is poisonous. Whether it is people praising or complaining about these “celebrities” drawing my attention towards them is not what I want to do. There is an absolute negative effect of feeding energy to that which should be smothered with indifference.

I am hereby detoxing from all the madness! I’ve played with the flames of TV programming and have experienced the repercussions. I can’t afford the price of engaging in the nonsense. Recalibrating. Peace.

Love Your Life: Business 101

The Flyest Mogul FlyingSome people would rather gain a few dollars at the expense of having a dissatisfied customer. What do you gain by winning the battle but losing the war. A happy customer is a repeat customer, and a customer who will grow your business through referrals. If you cheat people because you think you have the upper hand, your days as a business are numbered. #EconomicSuicide
