Trying to deny history is a foolhardy act. Things are what they are. You can’t undo the past. Denying the past is dismissive and insensitive, and shows a lack of a desire to bring about healing. If America, and some of its citizens, continue to deny its history, things will not get better. Only deep examination, analysis, and implemented actions can bring about change. Saying, “racism doesn’t exist,” almost certainly ensures that it always will.
